Day 1 (Thursday) After a short flight to Ataturk airport, we will transfer to a stunning boutique hotel located in the heart of the old city - Sultanahmet, spend the day exploring Istanbul with your local guide or relax by yourself. Lee will be available anytime if you wish to go out and take photographs.
Early evening we will enjoy a meet & greet drink in a nearby bar where Lee will share some of his photography stories and street photography tips before a delicious dinner at a popular local restaurant within the fashionable district of Beyoğlu.
Day 2 (Friday) Master all the settings on your camera & learn the art of street photography To make the most of every sliver of natural light, we rise with the sun and begin our day with a location shoot in the grounds of the exquisite Blue Mosque. We hit the picturesque backstreets toward Aya Sofiya before enjoying a famous fish sandwich (balık-ekmek) at Galata Bridge on the Golden Horn.
Afternoon - After lunch we take a tram to the Fener and Balat districts. Once a focal point of the social and cultural lives of Greeks, Armenians and Jews, the Fener and Balat districts is great for photography and culture. The vibrantly coloured, old houses make way for some great shots.
Evening - Take a cable car to the top of Pierre Loti hill and take in the panoramic view of the Golden Horn, named after a French naval officer and novelist who lived in Istanbul. Watch the sun go down and photograph the spectacular views over the city. Enjoy a ferry ride back to the Galata Bridge before joining the group for a modern twist on Turkish food at a local restaurant.
Day 3 (Saturday) 20 minute photography challenges: Today we will test your photographic skills during a series of 20-minute 'photographic challenges'. Beginning at the vibrant Covered Bazaar before heading to the Corlulu Ali Pasa Medresesi - a hookah cafe hidden in a 300-year-old alleyway near Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar. Don't worry, Lee will be by your side, mentoring you and making sure you feel confident approaching your subject!
After some local lunchtime nibbles we visit the spice market before Tea and Baklava in a local cafe.
Saturday night: Relax at your hotel or party the night away. Your expert guide will provide you with a list of the best bars and cafe's in town.
Day 4 (Sunday): Show us your pictures Over a hearty breakfast we will recap on everything learned during our short but fruitful stay and bring the course to a formal close with a show and tell session before heading back to the Airport for an afternoon flight back home.
